This is my list of the best shoujo manga. I recommend it to pretty much anyone any chance I get (anime/manga fan or not, lol). These are *in my opinion* the best in shoujo manga and should be checked out, like, immediately.
Fruits Basket - To me this is the quintessential shoujo manga - it's got everything you could ever ask for: Love, drama, comedy, and cute animals. (Say it with me: Cute. Animals.)
Fushigi Yugi - One of the best for sure - quickly evolves from lighthearted to epic. A totally engrossing action-packed must-read. Gods, warriors, school girls in short skirts - you name it, it's got it.
Hot Gimmick - Very funny with some rather original artwork. Here's a basic synopsis: a girl is out buying a pregnancy test for her younger sister and she ends up being seen by some guy and he in turn blackmails her into agreeing to become his slave. Comedy ensues.
Those 3 are the cream of the crop imho (Beauty Pop isn't that bad either), and just a basic way to whet your shoujo manga appetite. If you really want your shoujo fix then be sure to also check out Absolute Boyfriend and Skip Beat! as well - both above-average shoujo manga and definitely worth your time, too.
